Monthly Shiur

IY"H, this Wednesday night, May 6th, at 10:30 p.m. we will start a monthly shiur Li'Iluy Nishmas Rotty. It will take place in YU by the Muss classrooms. The first shiur will be given by Rabbi Bacon on the topic of "Bechukosaichem Lo Taileichu."

  3. We speak metaphorically of souls that are closer to God being "higher up." Li'iluy Nishmas" means that in the merit of the action we are doing the soul will be elevated. We pray that David's nishma will have a closer place to God due to our actions in his merit.

  6. I think to use Arevim Ze La Zeh in this context is a complete distortion of a purely halakhik concept, that has very specific rules an limitations.

  7. Actually it is originally a concept in Machshava, brought down in the sifra, which is also used as a halakhic concept.
